Itinerary
Day 1: Sunday – Indian Pacific, Perth
A leisurely mid-morning departure from Perth aboard
the Indian Pacific is soon followed by a regionally
inspired, gourmet lunch with views of the beautiful patchwork
hills of the Avon Valley. The soft, green rolling hills slowly
give way to the flatter, drier and harsher, but every bit as
beautiful, desert plains. Enjoy a pre-dinner drink and some
socialising with fellow guests in anticipation of your late-night
arrival into the landmark township of Kalgoorlie, where you
can experience an Off Train Excursion. Relax in the comfort of
your cabin and drift off to sleep. (B,L,D)
Day 2: Monday – Indian Pacific, Nullarbor Plain
Arrive refreshed and eager for a superb sunrise
breakfast on the Nullarbor. Back on the train regionally
inspired, modern Australian cuisine is on hand, along with
fine wines of course for lunch, before alighting the train and
experiencing the extraordinary and ever so slightly eerie,
ghost town of Cook. Watch the passing parade of everchanging
landscape over dinner and share stories with old
friends and new in the Lounge. (B,L,D)
Day 3: Tuesday – Indian Pacific, Adelaide
After another comfortable night’s sleep, the beautiful
but unforgiving scenery is now replaced with softer
and more graceful contours as you make your way to Adelaide
for a morning arrival. Transfer to your accommodation. This
afternoon is yours to familiarise yourself with this beautiful city.
Day 4: Wednesday – McLaren Vale
Depart the city towards Glenelg to take the coastal route to
the Fleurieu Peninsula. The beautiful mid-south coast, with its
glistening vistas of the Gulf St Vincent and pristine beaches
awards your arrival to McLaren Vale wine region. Pass
through rolling vineyards to visit up to five beautiful wineries
in the ‘Vale’. Each one is steeped in history with friendly
knowledgeable staff, happy to guide you through each wine
tasting experience. Best known for Shiraz, the region excels
with Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay as well
as Spanish and Italian varieties such as Fiano, Vermentino,
Tempranillo, Mouvedre, Nero d’Avola & Sangiovese. (B,L)
Day 5: Thursday – Adelaide
FREE DAY Today is yours to discover Adelaide at your own
pace. Do a spot of shopping in Rundle Mall, take the tram
to the seaside suburb of Glenelg or simply indulge in the
comforts of your accommodation. (B)
Day 6: Friday – Barossa Valley
This world-renowned wine region is a must see for wine
lovers. Full of history, this region is home to over 80 cellar
doors. Visit one of the oldest vineyards in the world, with
Shiraz vines planted in 1843 (that’s over 170 years old).
Enjoy up to four wineries / cellar doors and be guided
through the wine tasting experience by passionate vignerons.
Two wine regions combine to make up the Barossa Valley;
Eden Valley for amazing Riesling and cool climate wines and
Barossa Valley, home to some of the world’s best Shiraz as
well as Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon Mataro, Semillon and
Chardonnay. (B, L)
Day 7: Saturday – Adelaide
This morning after breakfast, check out of your hotel. (B)

Day 4: Saturday
Barossa Valley Supreme: Discover
the flavours of the world famous
Barossa Valley wine region. Visit the
well-known Wolf Blass Winery and
Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop to sample
her gourmet pâtés and the Beer
Brothers wines. Enjoy the best foods
the region has to offer at Barossa Valley
Estate. Sit back and relax, take in the
ambience and the views before visiting
Langmeil Winery and Chateau Tanunda.
(BL)
