Itinerary
Leaving Darwin we travel south through tropical country, passing former WWII airstrips en route to Adelaide River.
We make a short stop at the Adelaide River War Cemetery, a site dedicated to those killed in the air raids in Darwin in the 1940s.
Continue to Edith Falls, where there is time for a refreshing swim in the waterhole beneath the falls (conditions permitting).
After lunch, we join a 2 hour scenic cruise through Katherine Gorge in Nitmiluk National Park, with a chance to see fresh water crocodiles sunning themselves on the banks of the river and many interesting species of bird life.
Our tour of the first two gorges takes us past sheer rock walls and requires a short walk to reach the second gorge.
Enjoy a brief tour of Katherine, the third largest town in the Territory and hub of the regions cattle and farming industries.
Travel via Pine Creek, a historic gold mining town, before an evening stop is made at Adelaide River where you may purchase dinner (own expense).
You may like to sample the famous Barra and Chips, before returning to Darwin. (L)

Totally wonderful experience. AAT Kings is a professional company, informative driver and comfortable coach for this long trip. We weren't looking forward to a rerun of yesterdays bad APT experience with a worn out bus and celf centred driver. Make sure it is AAT Kings.

This was an excellent experience. The tour guide (driver) was very knowledgeable and entertaining. The Gorge & Falls & crocs were fantastic.
It's a very tiring day. Pickup around 6am and we got back at 9pm.The lunchtime meal included was lovely but the stop off for tea was limited to one thing and very expensive. We opted for a pkt chips & a coldie. Wear comfortable shoes & drink lots of water.

Fantastic day. Great guide and good value for money.

Lovely relaxed day by tour bus. Disappointed by not swimming at Edith Falls, but understand about crocs. Only one level at Katherine Gorge, but well compensated by swim at waterfall
Reviewed by: Regina, March 2010

I must say this was not what I expected. Although the ride in the bus was fun with a great driver. The length of the trip was forever long and the sights of Edith falls was disappointing as a small overflow peeked over the rocks..The Gorge trip was short and un-eventfull..We did get a few good pics. but I must say the most exciting thing for me were the bats in the trees as we departed the dock..
Reviewed by: james, March 2010

Totally excellent. Highly recommended. Despite someone crashing into the bus (not AAT Kings fault), the glitch was handled smoothly and professionally and we all had a great time.
