Itinerary Day 1. Kakadu National Park, Nourlangie Rock Art Site, Yellow Water Cruise.
Depart Darwin and travel into the World Heritage listed Kakadu National Park. Visit the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre and gain an insight into the culture and history the park holds for its traditional owners. Join a guided boat cruise on Yellow Water billabong, Kakadu’s most famous wetland area. Keep a look out for saltwater crocodiles, diverse birdlife and beautiful water lilies. After lunch travel to Nourlangie Rock art site and view the ancient galleries of Aboriginal rock art.
Stay: Kakadu National Park - Kakadu Lodge (Budget, shared facilities)
Day 2. Ubirr Aboriginal Art, East Alligator River Cruise, Window on the Wetlands.
You have the opportunity for a scenic flight over the Arnhem Land Escarpment (own expense). Travel to Ubirr to see superbly preserved Aboriginal rock art, dating back 20,000 years. Enjoy views of the surrounding Nardab floodplains before joining Aboriginal guides for a cruise on the East Alligator River. By special permission, take a short walk into Arnhem Land. Visit the Bowali Visitor Centre and view displays about the park. Stop at Window on the Wetlands Visitor Centre and enjoy a complimentary glass of wine while watching the changing light over the wetlands.
