Can only be booked as the full journey, Darwin - Adelaide. It is not possible to book part of the journey only.
Day 1: Darwin - Katherine
After departing from Darwin, you will have plenty of time to settle in to your private cabin and begin enjoying the
spectacular views. Guests can enjoy the comfort and solitude of their private cabin or mingle in the dining areas
Lunch is served in the Queen Adelaide Restaurant prior to your arrival in Katherine. Guests can lose themselves in
conversation with newfound travelling companions, or simply gaze out of the window taking inspiration from the ever
changing landscape. You'll arrive in Katherine ready to experience our first Off Train Excursion (included in the package) to the magnificent and
spiritual Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge. Or you may choose to upgrade your excursion with a helicopter scenic flight over Kakadu and Nitmiluk National Parks.
You'll return to the train just in time to have a 3 course dinner while enjoying an outback sunset from windows of the restaurant.
Day 2: Alice Springs
After a delectable breakfast you'll arrive in Australia's most famous outback town, ready for a full day of adventure in the spiritual heart
of Australia. A full day in Alice Springs provides guests with ample opportunity to visit local landmarks, get up close and personal with
Australia's incredible flora and fauna or simply explore at their own pace. During your day in The Alice you can choose from one of the included Off Train Excursions:
Simpsons Gap Discovery Walk, Alice Springs Desert Park, or Alice Explorer. Guests also have the option to complete the Red Centre experience by upgrading to a
scenic flight over Uluru and Kata Tjuta, arriving back in time for dinner and to re-join The Ghan.
What better way to end the day than with an authentic bush barbecue under the stars. Guests finish the evening under a canopy of
stars with an authentic Australian dinner. Your outback pioneer cuisine consists of a succulent steak and Aussie damper with a
cold beer or glass of fine wine, followed by dessert accompanied by an informative astronomical talk.
Day 3: Coober Pedy
You'll be greeted by a tour guide when you alight the train in Manguri, shortly after breakfast. Guests enjoy a day in
Coober Pedy, one of Australia's most unique outback towns and the opal capital of the world. Coober Pedy, the sun-scorched opal mining capital of the
world is a fascinating place where many residents live underground. You'll venture into the tunnels and caves of this underground town and perhaps even mine for riches.
Your visit to this intriguing 'underground' town includes a trip to the underground Serbian Orthodox Church, the Umoona Opal Mine and Museum, and
Quest Opal Mine where you will you will stop for a gourmet lunch. You will also visit a spellbinding outback moonscape called The Breakaways, before returning to the
Ghan to dine in style at the Queen Adelaide restaurant onboard the train.
Day 4: Arrive in Adelaide
You will awake to a rapidly changing landscape as the reds and browns of outback South Australia are replaced by lush green
farmland. After breakfast guests will have time to reflect on their journey before The Ghan rolls into Adelaide. The train will end its
journey in Adelaide a little after breakfast time.

We really enjoyed the trip. The excursions off train were excellent. Staff could not do enough for you. The meals were 4.5 star. The only thing I would have liked was wider beds but because of room constraints probably is not possible. Plenty of room in the on suite. Would recommend the train to everyone. Wendy Martin

The cabin/train beautifully appointed and comfortable, the service outstanding, the food and wine glorious (and plenty of it), the off-train excursions were great fun, the little "surprises" a welcome treat. A first class experience from start to finish.
